Heritage Open Days again popular

This year’s report from Philip Wise (CTC Heritage Manager) included: “This year, Heritage Open Days took place between Friday 6th and Sunday 15th September with Colchester’s contribution concentrated on the two weekends.

In total, there were 46 participating venues or guided walks. Amongst the venues which had very good figures (up on 2023) were the Town Hall, St Mary’s Church in Wivenhoe, Grey Friars and St Botolph’s Church and Priory.

Visitor comments included the following: ‘‘Fantastic event (at Greyfriars Luxury Hotel and Restaurant). The guide was amazing. He had so much knowledge and enthusiasm. Every question that he was asked by the group he was able to answer.”

In 2025, Heritage Open Days will be from Friday 12th to Sunday 21st September. Booking details will be available later this year. If you wish to be kept informed send a message on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/greyfriarscolchester

The tour includes information on the Colchester Botanic Garden which was on the Grey Friars site.
