Site of former Learning Shop revamped

Grey Friars was once the lynchpin in a pioneering partnership to bring lifelong learning to everyone. The Colchester Learning Shop was in St Nicholas Street from 2000-2007. It gave impartial information, advice and guidance on all post-school courses. The location, next to popular general store Jack’s, was chosen because of its large footfall. The site has now been developed as a ‘town square’ with the Learning Shop and Jack’s giving way to a bar/restaurant.
